Fixed and removable braces

Orthodontics is one of the few fields where there is no so-called invasive intervention, i.e. irreversible damage to teeth or bone. This makes it an elegant and highly efficient field. Moreover, orthodontic treatment is possible at almost any age. Podkovka Dental Centre cooperates with several experienced external orthodontists such as MUDr. Štěpán Slezáček, MUDr. Ondřej Suchý and MUDr. Martina Řeřichová.

The first thing to do is undergo an initial consultation, after which a treatment plan is drawn up. This is followed by the actual orthodontic treatment with a fixed or removable appliance. After the end of the actual treatment comes the so-called retention phase, which aims to stabilize the result. Often, cooperation with an oral surgeon or an implantologist and prosthodontist is necessary to achieve the desired result.

The actual orthodontic treatment is is performed using fixed braces (fixed braces, fixed orthodontic appliance), which consist of locks, rings, arch and various other rubber bands and chains depending on the need for treatment. Today, in addition to classic metal locks, it is also possible to use sapphire or ceramic locks, which are very aesthetic. It is also possible to use so-called lingual locks, which are glued on the linguistic side and therefore completely imperceptible to the surroundings. The fixed appliance exerts slight forces on the teeth, causing them to move into the desired ideal positions and reposition the surrounding tissues. It is not possible to increase the speed of tooth movement, as it corresponds only to biological possibilities, which is why orthodontic treatment is so long. Moving the teeth also need to be monitored at regular check-ups with an orthodontist.

Removable braces (removable braces, night braces) are mostly used today in patients where temporary (milk) teeth are replaced with permanent ones or as retention appliances after the treatment with fixed appliances has been completed. Removable braces are made of different coloured resin and include clasps, labial arch and various screws and pens.

The approximate price of treatment with fixed braces is 25.000,- CZK and the treatment period is from one to two years. If you would like to make an appointment for an initial consultation with an orthodontist, please contact our reception at  725 094 931 or e-mailu info@podkovka.cz.
